Marilyn Mockus I was secretary to Norm Somers and right on through the ND demise; my children--Katy and Clay, ages 5 and 8, played downstairs, and my older son Cole, l6, went to work at the Shawmut Inn with 3 of the ND kids. I was there during the sit-in, when the Black Panthers visited, and at the final Vortex bash. I walked the walk down through the streets of Sanford and Springvale in the Peace March, assailed by the upright citizens. I attended the farce of a graduation where Bob Morrill, Lorinda Wilder, Neil Cohen, and Jerry Zeiger got their degrees. I was there the morning after the Sanford PD made their dope raid and Norm had run from his house to the dorms to warn everybody. I rode my motorcycle to work and Ed used it to run errands. I took a lot of crap from the townsfolk and the police for my association with the ND "hippies." Today, nobody remembers the New Division. One night on a local radio station, the announcer offered a prize if anyone could name the secretary of the New Division. And...here's the best part: One person did!! -------------------------------------- Billy - Isn't she beautiful? - the Beemer, that is. The same old ratty beat-up bike restored (almost) to her original glory. Marilyn
